What are the hardware specs of the Bare Metal Cloud servers in Google?

Cloud IBR recoveries at Google Cloud provide you with a full VMware VCF infrastructure with vSAN, NSX-T, vCenter, etc. Below are the per Node hardware specs. You can have up to 8 Nodes in a Recovery Cluster:

  • CPU: Intel Xeon Gold 6240 (Skylake) 2.6 GHz (3.9 GHz Turbo) x2, 36 cores/72 hyper-threads.
  • Memory: 768 GB.
  • RAW Storage: 19.2 TB (6 x 3.2 TB NVMe)
  • Usable Storage: 15TB
  • Cache: 3.2 TB (2 x 1.6 TB NVMe)
  • Network: 100 Gbps throughput (4 x Mellanox ConnectX-4 Lx Dual Port 25 GbE)

For Cloud IBR recovery testing, you can run a cluster with a single node. There is a three node minimum when initiating an actual recovery from a disaster. Three nodes ensures that the Google infrastructure is production ready with full vSAN redundancy.
